I. Intro
INCM 2017
The Swiss team "EASA CH" has been chosen to organize the summer school assembly in Villars sur Ollon !
During INCM Lapland 2017, organised by EASA Finland, the Swiss Bidding Team proposed its candidature along with EASA Romania.
EASA 2019 will be held in Villars-sur-Ollon (CH) (VD) with the Theme TOURIST. EASA TOURIST 2019 will tackle the large problematic of Tourism and Architecture / Society.

IV. Contexte

EASA : European Architecture Students Assembly
EASA : is a platform of exchange connecting students and future professionals within the discipline of architectural construction and thought troughout Europe.
EASA : exists as a decentralized organisation, which isn’t ruled by a board but through its national representants, who are all equal in rights and located throughout the continent.
EASA : is organised by students for students, and therefore creates a unique educational platform where the participants get to live a novel cultural experience.
EASA : allows to experiment architecture in a context that most traditional academic institutions aren’t able to provide. The students are immersed in a specific environment, which is itself defined by a venue and a topic which will guide the Assembly.
This environment leads to intense reflection and discussion about arising questions which the students tackle throught the lense of their own education, challenging each others acquired knowledge. Being their own professors, the students will then propose the answers they found by translating them in a physical form (temporary or permanent constructions, drawings, photography, videos, etc.).

EASA: Assemblée Européenne des Etudiants en Architecture
EASA, c’est une plateforme d’échange qui connecte les étudiants et futurs professionnels du monde de l’architecture à travers toute l’Europe.
EASA n’a pas de but lucratif. Son objectif premier est de réunir des étudiants et des bénévoles autour du thème de l’architecture afin que ces derniers puissent partager leur savoir théorique et pratique.
EASA est organisée par les étudiants pour les étudiants, elle offre de ce fait une plateforme éducationelle unique en son genre et permet aux participants de faire une expérience culturelle inédite.
EASA permet d’expérimenter l’architecture dans un contexte que la plupart des universités ne sont pas capables d’offrir actuellement. Les étudiants sont confrontés à un certain milieu, lui-même défini par un lieu et par le thème de l’assemblée.
De ce milieu naissent des interrogations auxquelles les étudiants se confrontent, au travers de la culture issue de leur propre éducation et de celle de tous les autres participants. En étant leurs propres professeurs, les étudiants élaborent alors des réponses, lesquelles sont traduites sous formes physiques (constructions éphémères ou non, dessins, photographies, vidéos, etc)
V. Workshops:

One of the prime aims of the Assembly lies in the workshops, in which the participants split in approximately 30 groups to work on a small project during the full duration of the event. These workshops are always linked to the topic chosen by the organizers, but vary widely by reaching from a theoretical approach to photography of the local architectural heritage to the construction of temporary pavillons.These workshops allow the 600 young architects to work hands-on et to build installations, some of which will remain on site. This inclusive process brings every single participant to confront themselves to a new context, to share their knowledge and to strengthen their experience in both teamwork and fieldwork. The opportunity to build full-scale installations is precious during the educational cursus since teaching in universities tends to focus exclusively on theory. During the last days of the assembly, students are intensively collaborating in order to set up an exhibition that will be accessible to the locals. The pavilions that were built by the construction workshops can serve as exhibition spaces for the documents that were created by more theoretical workshops, or as stages for workshops that focused on performing arts and have developed performances.

L’un des buts premiers de l’assemblée reste les workshops pendant lesquels environ 30 groupes d’étudiants travaillent sur un petit projet durant l’entier de la durée de l’événement. Ces workshops sont toujours liés au thème que les organisateurs choisissent chaque année, mais ils peuvent varier de l’élaboration d’hypothèses et de concepts à la photographie du patrimoine local, ou encore à la construction de pavillons temporaires ou fixes. Ces ateliers permettent aux 600 jeunes architectes participants à l’assemblée de mettre la main à la pâte et de construire des installations qui pour certaines resteront pérennes. Ce processus participatif permet à chacun de se confronter à un contexte nouveau, de partager son savoir et de faire l’expérience du travail en équipe, sur le terrain. Cette possibilité de construire à échelle réelle est une occasion unique dans le cursus universitaire de ces étudiants qui, pour la plupart, restent trop souvent cantonnés à la théorie. Durant les derniers jours de l'assemblée, les étudiants collaborent intensément afin de mettre en place une exposition qui sera accessible à la population locale. Les pavillons créés par les workshops de construction servent alors de lieux d’exposition aux documents créés par les ateliers plus théoriques, ou encore de scènes pour les workshops qui se sont concentrés sur les arts vivants et ont développé des performances.
